Around The Shop - Foscarini Lighting

Here at Pistil, we are inspired by lots of different things - flowers, our travels, designers, etc.  Today we want to share with you a company who greatly inspired our decor in the shop - Foscarini.

Based in Venice, the innovative lighting company began in 1981.  What sets Foscarini apart is that, in order to create various different styles of lighting, they enlist over 20 international and multi-disciplinary designers to develop the designs.


When you walk into Pistil, you are greeted by Foscarini`s "Big Bang", a ceiling lamp composed by overlapping white planes.  The unique structure offers both diffused and reflected light and is a beautiful centerpiece in the store.
 

The artists, Enrico Franzolini and Vincente Garcia Jimenez, both have varied design backgrounds.  Franzolini studied in Florence and graduated in Architecture and Garcia Jimenez graduated in Industrial Design in Spain.  Together, they have created a sculptural masterpiece reminiscent of the Big Bang explosion.
 

For the third year in a row, Foscarini has sponsored one of the most notorious architectural events in the world - The 12th Venice Biennale, International Architecture Exhibition.  See their various lighting installations below:

As you can tell, Foscarini is a huge inspiration for us gals in the store.
