Five Easy Steps to a Better Orchid
01 March 2011

For this second installment of Orchid-related posts, we thought that we would share how to best care for your Orchid.

There is a perception that Orchids are hard to care for, but if you follow a few simple steps, they can be a very long-lasting flower.

1.  Place your Orchid in in-direct sunlight

2.  Water your Orchid every 10 days, but test it out first - if the pot still seems moist after 10 days, wait until it is almost dried out.  You can test the moistness by just touching the moss or bark in the container

3.  Try not to place your Orchid near vents.  They don`t like sudden changes in temperature or very hot or very cold climates

4.  When you want your Orchid to re-bloom, cut the stem of the flower all the way to the bottom

5.  When your Orchid is not in bloom, it needs to fertilize.  Unfortunately, we don`t sell it, but you can buy it at your local nursery

And that`s it! Pretty simple!

Now that you know how Orchids are grown and how to care for them, are you ready to buy your very own Orchid??

Here is what we have in-store today:

A wide variety of Phaelenopsis Orchids to choose from.

Beautiful Cattelaya Orchids

These are the Oncidium Orchids that we talked about last week that smell like chocolate....Mmmmmm

Mokara Orchids in a beautiful purple colour

And Cymbidium Orchids - isn`t that a vibrant yellow?

If those pictures don`t want to make you come and buy an orchid, we don`t know what will!
