It`s Valentine’s Day: start pulling heartstrings 06 February 2012

It’s time to get back to romance. We’re talking the good old fashioned kind. It`s about stepping out of your day-to-day routine and doing something unexpected for the one you love. It’s time to pull some heartstrings.
When was the last time you wrote a hand written note to someone you cared about? Whether it is from your partner, crush, BFF, kids or whomever, we all know how amazing it is to receive a hand written note. Anyone can sign his/her name at the bottom of a sappy, mass produced Valentine’s Day card. It`s time to go beyond that. Commit your feelings on paper. And you don’t need to be a poet to do it. Listen to your heart and go from there. Trust us, this will get noticed. (BTW, texting “I luv u” doesn’t count.)
Maybe you’re not the note writing kind. If so, then look to a simple, thoughtful and unexpected gesture targeted at your sweetheart. Let go of all your inhibitions and go for it.
At the store, we’ve got lots to inspire you with this assignment. We’ve created a chandelier of love notes. Each is hand written and no two the same.

And our walls are inscribed with an excerpt from British novelist Louis de Bernières’ Captain Corelli`s Mandolin.

Here’s a sample to get you in the mood:
Love is a temporary madness,
it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides.
And when it subsides you have to make a decision.
You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together
that it is inconceivable that you should ever part.
Because this is what love is.
Love is not breathlessness,
it is not excitement,
it is not the promulgation of eternal passion.
That is just being "in love" which any fool can do.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away,
and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.
Those that truly love have roots that grow towards each other underground,
and when all the pretty blossom have fallen from their branches,
they find that they are one tree and not two.
it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides.
Let the spirit of Valentine’s Day inspire you to get out there and start pulling.
