Pistil Flowers Featured in Weddingbells
13 July 2011

Everyone around the shop is pretty thrilled about being featured in the Weddingbells Fall+ Winter 2011 edition.   This rich, opulent tribute to the rose takes romance to a whole new level.

It was during Queen Victoria’s marriage to Prince Albert in 1840 that she stunned and captivated the world by walking down the aisle in a white wedding dress.  Prior to their union, wedding gowns were often dark and more practical colours.  Queen Victoria was not only a great influencer of fashion but also of floral and garden design.  The gardens in the Victorian era were lush, over-the-top and immaculately maintained.  They were meant to be admired and wandered through, hand-in-hand with your beloved.  High society would show their wealth with ostentatious floral arrangements picked from their gardens.  It was a lavish and romantic time.

Our arrangements featured in Weddingbells draw a lot of inspiration from the style and grace of that time period…just minus the stuffiness.  Using Pistil’s contemporary approach to design, our designers created an elegant semi-cascading bridal bouquet with Modern Victorian influences.   We combined deep red roses, an integral flower in Victorian arrangements, with white ranunculi and ivory and burgundy carnations.  Strong contrasting hues arranged in tight masses are also reflective of that era.  A smaller, equally stunning bouquet was created for the bridal party.

Flowers are a soft yet impactful way to accessorize your bridal wardrobe.   Whether your style is Modern Victorian or understated elegance, our Floral Designers would be happy to assist with your wedding planning.

Many thanks to Weddingbells for selecting Pistil Flowers for this issue!
