Pistil Workshop: our first day of school
14 October 2011

Just like getting on the school bus for the very first time, there was a flurry of emotions as we prepared for the launch of Pistil Workshop. Jitters, butterflies, anxiousness and apprehension left us wondering how the session would play out.

Apart from a few minor glitches, like remembering to turn down the hum of the flower cooler, our first workshop went surprisingly smoothly. The topic was Giving Thanks: gift ideas for the stylish host. Working with yellow freesias, participants learned the principles of massing flowers in order to create a striking arrangement.  Each student created a stylish and contemporary gift that they could proudly give to their Thanksgiving host. As well, they each left the class armed with practical tips and tricks that could be used at home on future arrangements.

Thank you to all of our participants for their tremendous enthusiasm and insightful feedback.
