Tulip Mania: A Mini History Lesson 23 March 2011
Here at Pistil, we are experiencing Tulip Mania! Peony, Parrot, Double and Frill Tulips galore! On another note, did you know Tulip Mania is a reference to the first economic crash in history?

Yes, we know it`s weird too, but in the mid-1600s, in the Dutch Golden Age, the price of the recently introduced tulip bulb reached extraordinarly high levels. Some bulbs were being sold for more than 10 times the annual income of a skilled craftsman! And then, suddenly, the bubble collapsed. The term "tulip mania" is now often used to refer to any large economic bubble.
We have always believed that tulips were the bomb, but who knew they would cause such a stir?
At any rate, the store is full of tulips right now, so we wanted to give you a low down on each one:

Parrot Tulips - In lots of colours

Market Tulips - we are selling them in bunches!

Double Tulips - There are petals inside the flower and outside

And our personal favourites - The Peony Tulip!
Tulip Mania has arrived folks...come and take part in the craziness!
